Round Brilliant

The modern brilliant cut diamond is without a shadow of a doubt the most popular shape available. It consists of 58 facets and the shape is optimized to reflected the light entering the stone through the top (table). The cut surfaced in the mid 17th century and counted only 17 facets in the crown. Later, a Venetian cutter called Vincent Peruzzi, improved the shape to 33 facets in the crown.

VS1 diamonds contain minor internal characteristics/inclusions which are difficult to observe when examined under 10x magnification.

Natural diamond

Because of the traditional and romantic meaning it has as a symbol of love and connection we only sell natural diamonds. They have a higher value and are exclusive because natural diamonds are formed in the earth under unique conditions and are very rare, which increases their exclusivity and value. Natural diamond forms deep inside the earth as a result of tectonic pressures 100s of kilometers below the earth's surface. They, as a consequence of their growth environment, are varied and unique. Despite being more pure than other natural crystals, they contain many different impurities incorporated from the environment during the long, slow growth process. Natural diamonds also often have a unique and unpredictable brilliance and color. Diamond producers we are working with also do everything they can to mine and process their diamonds in a responsible and ethical manner.

Halo

An entourage or halo setting is a jewelers technique in which a central gemstone is surrounded by smaller stones. They light up the whole and accentuate the central stone. That is why they are sometimes called accent stones. This setting is usually used in rings, earrings and pendants, where the central stone is usually the largest and the smaller stones around it are set in the shape of the central gemstone. This can be circular, oval, square, rectangular or any fantasy shape. The gemstones can be of the same kind or can have different colors or origins depending on the taste of the customer and the availability of the gemstones. An entourage setting is often chosen for engagement rings and wedding rings, because it gives an extra dimension to the center diamond or gemstone. It creates a beautiful sparkle and an impressive look to the ring or pendant, making it look even more impressive.

A jewel with a sapphire

Sapphires are one of the most popular gemstones for jewelry because of their beautiful, deep blue color and their durability. Sapphires belong to the corundum family of minerals and have a hardness of 9 on the Mohs scale, meaning they are highly resistant to scratches and abrasion. The finest sapphires are traditionally found in certain parts of Asia, particularly in Sri Lanka, Myanmar (formerly Burma), and Kashmir (a region of northern India). These regions are known for their production of high quality sapphires, especially the Kashmir sapphires which are known for their rare and exceptional blue color with velvet appearance. However, sapphires are also found in other parts of the world, such as Australia, Thailand, Madagascar and Tanzania. Sapphires can be used in a variety of jewelry, including rings, earrings, pendants, and bracelets. One of the most popular ways to wear sapphires is in an engagement ring or wedding band, with the sapphire being the center gemstone. Sapphires can also be combined with diamonds and other precious stones to create beautiful and unique jewellery. Sapphires are not only available in deep blue shades, but also in other colors such as pink, yellow, green and orange. These colors are a result of various traces of minerals included in the sapphire. Sapphires are also very valuable and can reach prices comparable to diamonds. The value of a sapphire is determined by the size, colour, clarity and cut of the stone. When purchasing sapphires, it is important to assess the quality of the stone and to ensure that it has been ethically sourced. In short, sapphire jewelry is beautiful, durable and valuable and can be a timeless addition to any jewelry collection.

In the Antwerp Jewish quarter

Antwerp is known for its diamonds industry and its Orthodox Jews. A few decades ago approximately eighty percent of Antwerp’s Jewish population used to make a living from the diamond industry. Apart from the gatherings in the diamond district and at the synagogue, Jews from Antwerp have lived mostly in different entities. The most recognizable community is that of the Haredi. After New York, London and Jerusalem, Antwerp is home to one of the largest ultra-Orthodox communities in the world.
